Steve Olson begins his second season with the Huskies in 2012and will serve as linebackers coach and special teamscoordinator.

The 21-year collegiate coaching veteran spent the previous 12years at Minnesota-Crookston, where he served in various capacitiesworking with the defense. He was the defensive coordinator a yearago and also worked with the defensive line and defensive backs.During the first 10 years of his tenure at UM-Crookston, Olsonserved the Golden Eagles' head baseball coach.

Olson spent seven years as assistant football and head baseballcoach at Jamestown College (N.D.) from 1992-99. He was part of aNo. 1-ranked football squad that advanced to the 1998 NAIA NationalPlayoffs. His 1994 baseball team set a school record for wins.

The Ada, Minn., native earned his bachelor's degree fromNorthern State (S.D.) in biology and physical education in 1991. Hestayed on to serve as assistant football and assistant baseballcoach until 1992.

Olson was a standout baseball player at Valley City State (N.D.)from 1984-88, earning NAIA All-America Honorable Mention in 1988.He was inducted into the VCSU Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
