Linda Chesebro (married name Rusaw) is a pioneer in women's
athletics at Michigan Tech, having played for both the women's
volleyball and basketball teams when the programs were just getting
off the ground.
She actually arrived on the scene with both programs just two
yers old and made quite a contribution during her four-year career
(1977-80).
She was more readily known for her role on the women's
volleyball team. Chesebro was a four-year letterwinner and
captained the team in both her junior and senior seasons. In
addition, she was named the most valuable player as both a
sophomore and junior.
She also competed two seasons (1977-78, 1978-79) for the women's
basketball team and played in 23 total games.
Chesebro was honored with the prestigious Raymond L. Smith Award
following her final year at MTU as the school's oustanding senior
female student-athlete.
Linda resides in Fenton, Mich.
