John Christianson

John Christianson made his impact in multiple ways on the
Michigan Tech tennis program. He was a standout on the court for
the men’s tennis program from 1972-75. Christianson won
Northern Intercollegiate Conference singles titles in 1972, 1973,
and 1975 and compiled a 35-5 mark over his four-year career in
singles competition. He helped the team to the NIC title in 1973
and was named the league’s co-Most Valuable Player in
1975.
Christianson went on to coach both the men’s and
women’s tennis teams at Michigan Tech from 1981-87. He was
named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
Women’s Coach of the Year in 1986 and in 1987 earned GLIAC
Coach of the Year honors in men’s tennis.
Christianson, currently the girls’ volleyball coach at
Houghton (Mich.) High School, resides in Houghton, Michigan
