David Cvengros was a two-sport athlete at Tech from 1958-62,
playing both basketball and tennis.
He was the first player in Michigan Tech basketball history to
score 1,000 points, finishing his career with 1,032. He earned
all-conference accolades twice in basketball and was tabbed team
MVP as a senior in 1961-62.
In tennis, Cvengros played No. 1 singles each of his final two
seasons. He won a conference doubles title in 1962 and was
runner-up in 1961.
The Wakefield, Mich, native served as team captain in both
sports. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for
Goodyear in Akron, Ohio, for 38 years before retiring.
