Clayton Willman amazed fans at Hubbell Field and around the
Midwest as Michigan Tech's quarterback for 1956-59.
A four-year letterwinner, Willman helped build a team that by
his senior year tied for the Northern States College Conference
crown.
During his illustrious final season, Willman led the team to a
6-2-0 record, completing 60 passes for a then-school-record 944
yards and five touchdowns. In addition, he carried 87 times for 389
yards. Willman's total offense mark of 1,333 yards also set what
was at the time an MTU record.
For his efforts, Willman gained All-NSCC First-Team laurels and
was also recognized as the team's Most Valuable Player.
