Bob Collins’ lore on the Michigan Tech campus came in the
late 1940s when he was a standout student-athletes in two sports.
He played for the Michigan Tech football team and won four letters
from 1947-50. Collins was a two-way player -- as a guard on the
offensive line and as a tackle on defense. During his career, he
helped Michigan Tech to an 18-8-2 overall record.
Collins was also a standout in boxing for the Huskies. As a
middleweight, he won the Northern Intercollegiate Conference Boxing
Tournament in both 1949 and 1950.
Collins is now retired and spends time in both the Bahamas and
Iron River, Michigan.
