Art J. Karam

Art J. Karam '42, shows an unparalleled commitment to Michigan
Tech, including the athletic program. He has received virtually
every alumni award the University gives and has volunteered a
substantial amount of time to MTU.
As an undergraduate, Karam was a three-time hockey letter
winner. His support of the hockey program continued after
graduation, serving as an informal scout and recruiter for many
years. He is also a member of the Huskies Club, supporting the
athletic scholarship program.
A resident of Saginaw, Michigan, he has also been active in the
youth hockey program in that area, and helped raise funds for a new
arena for that program.
Karam has received Michigan Tech's Distinguished Alumni Award
and the Board of Control Silver Medal. He is a long-time member of
the Huskies Club, a past-president of Michigan Tech Alumni
Association, a life trustee of the Michigan Tech Fund, and a member
of the Presidents Club.
Karam spent his career at General Motors, rising through the
ranks to become a plant manager in the Central Foundry Division. At
the time of his retirement, he was the division's director of
foundry-government relations.
