LAKE PLACID, New York – The Michigan Tech Nordic ski teams opened the 2026 portion of their schedule at the 2026 U.S. Cross Country Ski National Championships Mt Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, New York from Jan. 4-9.
Head Coach Tom Monahan Smith
"The team had a great showing at U.S. Cross Country Ski National Championships, winning the CCSA invitational! The four-race week was highlighted by Wes Campbell winning the first CCSA NCAA qualifier in the Classic 10km where he finished as the 4th U23, and 9th college competitor - an All-American caliber finish! Additional notable team highlights include Hannah Smart's top 25 finish overall in the Classic Sprint, Eddie Snider's 8th place finish in the Junior Men's Skate Mass Start, Noa Kam-Magruder making the Junior Men's Classic Sprint final, our men taking the top three positions for CCSA in the Skate 20km Mass Start, and our women taking the top three positions for CCSA in the Classic Sprint.
"We're very happy with how our team performed throughout these Championships. They put together four really strong race days, which is a testament to their competitive versatility. We owe a special mention to Coaches William Haapala and Cédric Keller for producing outstanding competitive service. We're proud of how hard our student-athletes competed every race, and how well they supported each other being the team with the loudest course-side cheering!"
