HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech football team is set for its final road game of the regular season, traveling to No. 23 Grand Valley State on Saturday for the Lakers' Homecoming game slated for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.

Michigan Tech Alumni Tailgate
Join fellow Husky fans and friends for a fall day of camaraderie, pasties, and football when the Huskies take on Grand Valley State! The tailgate starts at 11:00 a.m. in Lot F.
The cost to register is $30 and includes Vollwerth pasties and Schmohz root beer during the tailgate, a game ticket in section 220 near fellow Husky fans, and a $5 donation to the West Michigan Alumni Endowed Scholarship. Tickets can be purchased here.

The Series
Grand Valley State leads the all-time series by a 33-4 margin. GSVU has won nine consecutive games in the series and is 28-2 against the Huskies since 1985.
About the Lakers
No. 23 Grand Valley State holds a 5-3 overall record and a 3-2 in conference ledger with two games to play. This is the first season the Lakers have endured three losses since the 2019 campaign, as GVSU has a 17-14 loss at then-No. 16 Pittsburg State on Sep. 13 while dropping two GLIAC games, falling to Saginaw Valley State (20-19) on Oct 18 before a 38-31 loss at No. 1 Ferris State the following weekend.
Grand Valley State earned the GLIAC Special Teams and Defensive Player of the Week honors in linebacker Anthony Cardamone and kicker Mathew Bacik. Cardamone tallied seven tackles, including 1.5 QB sacks (-10) and 1.5 tackles for loss (-10) in the Lakers' 59-13 victory at Wayne State. Cardamone leads GVSU in total tackles with 52, including a team-best 4.5 QB sacks (-20) and 6.5 tackles for loss (-22), five QB hurries and a fumble recovery.
Bacik hit a 29-yard field goal, was 8-for-8 in points after attempts and averaged 53.7 yards on nine kickoffs with one touchback at Wayne State. Bacik is 37-for-38 in PATs and has converted five field goals on the season, including a career-long 54-yarder.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Andrew Schuster has tossed for 1,940 yards (242.5 yards per game), completing 60.1 percent of his passes for 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. Lynn, Wyche-El and Kellen Reed are his top targets, with each owning five receiving touchdowns and over 400 receiving yards on the season.
Paschal Jolman and Brady Drogosh control the run game with nine total rushing scores combined with Jolman having 144 net rushing yards on the season, as Drogosh adds 212.
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech has played to a 7-2 record and 4-1 in the GLIAC, most recently besting Roosevelt 56-31 at Kearly Stadium on Saturday. The Huskies have produced back-to-back seven-win seasons with two games to go in the third season of the Dan Mettlach era.
Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Nic Nora earned GLIAC Offense Player of the Week honors following a career day against the Roosevelt Lakers that included a career-high three rushing touchdowns with 59 yards on six carries with a long of 21 yards while catching three passes for 53 yards, including a long of 33 yards.
Freshman quarterback Elliott Larner made his first career start, going 14-for-23 passing for 195 yards and a touchdown to go with 13 rushes for 95 yards and a score.
Linebacker Chase Koch led the Huskies with 11Â total tackles on Saturday and paces the defense for the season with 85Â total tackles and two interceptions. Veteran captain Dante Basanese has also recorded two interceptions to go with 44 total tackles and five breakups. Porter Zeeman adds 46 total tackles for the year, including eight TFLs for 18 yards.
Nora ranks second in the GLIAC in receptions per game (4.22), receiving yards per game (59.3), receiving yards (534) and receiving touchdowns (5). Veteran Ethan Champney is third in the GLIAC in receptions per game (4.11), receiving yards per game (54.3) and receiving yards (489). Bryce Kurncz has caught three passes for touchdowns, totaling 316 yards.
Running back Jake Rueff averages 54 rushing yards per game, totaling 432 on the year with three rushing scores. Larner paces the team with seven touchdowns on the ground and 320 yards.
One Last Thing
The two teams have identical averages in scoring offense and defense, with the Huskies posting 35.1 points while allowing 21.3 points per outing. Comparatively, Grand Valley State scores 36 points and allows 19.3 points per game.
