HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech football squad is back home at Kearly Stadium for the regular season finale on Saturday for Senior Day, hosting Saginaw Valley State for a noon kickoff.

Saginaw Valley State leads 25-12 with the first meeting in the 1980 season. The Cardinals have won four of the last six meetings, with Michigan Tech's last win coming on the road a season ago in a fourth-quarter comeback when the Huskies poured on 22 points to overcome a 28-10 deficit and win 32-28.
About the Cardinals
Saginaw Valley State has been one of the most dangerous teams, since starting 1-3 in the non-conference slate, the Cardinals have played to a 5-5 record while going 4-2 in GLIAC play, taking down then-No. 7 Grand Valley State (20-19) while most recently taking No. 1 Ferris State to its limits, falling 51-45 in OT.
The Cardinals have the second-best rushing defense in the league (109.3 yards per game) while holding the third-highest rushing offense in the GLIAC with 219.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks 17th nationally. SVSU's total offense of 412.9 yards per game also sits second in the league with 193.4 passing yards per outing.
Quarterback Mason McKenzie has tossed for 1,846 yards with 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 58.8 percent of his passes. He adds 146 carries totaling 902 yards and 10 scores to go with seven fumbles.
Michael Jamerson III is the Cardinals' top running back with 117 carries for 557 yards and seven touchdowns. Terrence Brown Jr. has a team-high seven receiving touchdowns on 48 catches totaling 627 yards.
Defensively, the Cardinals have four players with over 50 total tackles, led by standout linebacker Christian Boivin with 99 total tackles and a team-high 8.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks. He also has a team-leading three interceptions returned for 31 yards. Jaden Bevier adds four sacks and six TFLs with a total of 51 tackles.
Ryan Brady is in his sixth season at the helm of the Cardinals.
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech returns to Kearly Stadium following a narrow loss to then-No. 23 Grand Valley State 18-15 on the road last Saturday. The Huskies hold a 7-3 overall ledger, while residing in a four-way tie for second in the GLIAC standings, with a record of 4-2.
The Huskies have the third best scoring defense in the GLIAC, allowing 21 points per game while producing 33.1 points an outing. The Black & Gold have the third-best passing offense in the league, producing 204.5 yards through the air.
Quarterback Alex Bueno has tossed for 1,426 yards for 12 touchdowns while adding 300 net rushing yards and four scores on 81 carries. Freshman quarterback Elliott Larner holds a team-leading seven rushing scores and 326 net rushing yards on 44 attempts, adding 300 yards through the air and two passing TDs.
Running back Jake Rueff adds four scores on the ground with a team-high 470 rushing yards on 120 carries to go with two receiving touchdowns. Veteran Ethan Champney has 542 receiving yards and two touchdowns, with Bryce Kurncz recording 385 receiving yards on 24 catches and three scores.
The stout Huskies' defense is led by linebackers Chase Koch (94 total tackles) and Porter Zeeman (58 total tackles). Captain Dante Basanese adds 51 total tackles, a team-high six breakups and two interceptions. Connor Hindenach leads the team with four sacks for 27 yards.
One Last Thing
Michigan Tech is off to a great start in the third year of the Dan Mettlach era, as the Huskies will have seven or more wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time in over a decade. The last time Michigan Tech had two consecutive seasons of seven or more wins came in 2014 (9-2) and 2015 (7-3).
