HOUGHTON, Mich. – For the second straight week, the Michigan Tech football team is taking to the road to face an opponent celebrating Homecoming. This time, the Huskies are traveling to Davenport for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.

The two teams have met seven times, with Davenport holding a 4-3 advantage and have won the last three matchups.Â
About the Panthers
Davenport has played to a 2-2 record, all coming on the road, with the Panthers' home opener against Lincoln (Calif.) being canceled on Sept. 25. DU is 1-1 in GLIAC play with a 35-16 victory at the Superior Dome over Northern Michigan, most recently falling 37-14 at Grand Valley State last weekend.
The Panthers are producing 24.2 points while allowing 23.2 points per outing. The run game has been a weapon for the offense, more specifically junior running back Cephus Harris, who has accounted for a league-leading eight rushing touchdowns with 446 total rushing yards and 111.5 per game. Junior running back Kayden Collins also has scored a rushing touchdown with 149 total yards in 29 carries.
Quarterback D'Wan Mathis has tossed for 658 yards (47-77) with three touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 97 yards on 33 carries.
Linebacker Latrell Scott leads the Panthers with 8.5 total tackles per game and a league-leading 5.25 solo tackles per outing. Jamar Mills has accounted for 30 total tackles and a pass breakup as defensive back Markell Gilford has a team-leading two interceptions to go with 15 total tackles.
Davenport was picked to finish fourth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll under head coach Sparky McEwan, entering his ninth season at the helm.Â
About the Huskies
Michigan Tech travels downstate for the second-straight week following a 48-24 victory at Wayne State a week ago to open GLIAC play. The Huskies are now 3-0 on the road for the year and 4-1 overall.
The Black & Gold are scoring 35.6 points per game with quarterback Alex Bueno guiding the offense with 1,047 passing yards (209.4 per game) with a league-high 12 passing touchdowns and three rushing scores. Wide receivers Nic Nora (66.4) and Ethan Champney (59.4) rank second and third in the league in receiving yards per game. Nora is top-20 nationally and first in the GLIAC with five receiving touchdowns while averaging 18.1 yards on kickoff returns. Drew Collins and Bryce Kurncz have two receiving scores.Â
Running back Jake Rueff has rushed for 262 yards and a touchdown to lead the team, as Bueno is close behind with 257 yards, while senior Kolby Hindenach has 112 yards on the ground on 24 carries.
Michigan Tech's defense is holding the opposition to 34.8% on third down conversions while allowing 78.4 yards rushing, ranking second in the GLIAC and 11th in the country. The Huskies boast the second-best scoring defense in the league, allowing 18.4 points per outing, with four players accounting for 25 or more tackles, led by Chase Koch with 36 total tackles, including four tackles for loss and a sack. Koch also recorded a pick-six at Wayne State.Â
Defensive back Dante Basanese has a team-leading two interceptions to go with three breakups and 25 total tackles. Jaiden Bolden has a team-high four pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Sophomore kicker Avery Kucharski leads the league with a field goal and game going 5-for-7 with a season-long of 44 yards while also going 17-for-21 on PATs.

Davenport and Michigan Tech are the top two teams in passing yards allowed, with the Panthers holding opponents to 156 yards and the Huskies allowing 179 passing yards per game.
