This Week in Michigan Tech Esports

Monday, November 18
• Rocket League will be fending off against Seton Hall University at 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, November 20
• Overwatch will be taking on Cumberland University at 8:30 p.m.
 

Smash 
The Tech Super Smash Bros team ended its season with an unfortunate loss against St. John's University. While not the season end the team was hoping for, they were able to show off their incredible in game knowledge and teamwork abilities. 

Although this was a tough loss for the team, they fought hard and have had an incredible season. They finished with a regular season record of 4-1 and having the chance to play in the first round of playoffs. Every member of the team has made notable improvements to their game play style and has been able to develop skills that will carry them into their next seasons of play. 


It has been impressive to see this team's development and they will continue to improve until the start of their next season of play. 


Rocket League 

This week the Rocket League team had a smashing first round win in the Playfly varsity premier league. Taking on the fourth-ranked Cumberland University and beating them with an impressive 4-1 final score. 

After a strong first half leading 3-0, Tech found itself needing one more win to secure the game. Giving up the fourth match, the Huskies showcased their focus and determination in order to win the next match and clinch their first playoff victory. 


This year's team has shown amazing collaboration and teamwork in all of its games and now look forward to carrying  momentum into a semi-final game against Seton Hall University. 


Overwatch 

Tech's Overwatch team had a strong start in the first round of playoffs with a 3-0 sweep against San Jose State University. 

The Huskies went into the match with confidence which allowed them to showcase their distinguished abilities and knowledge in the game. Being able to win three straight matches showed that the team's skills were sharp. They have worked well together as a team and they look forward to building an even stronger dynamic. 


The team now advances to the semi-finals where they will take on Cumberland University and they are ambitious to have another dominant competition.
