SERIES NOTES

• The Huskies and Chargers met six times during the 2014-15 season, with Tech going a perfect 6-0-0 in those contests. The most notable game came during the first round of the WCHA playoffs when the two squads battled for nearly six entire periods before Tyler Heinonen scored late in the third overtime to give the Huskies a 1-0 win at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena in Houghton.

• Michigan Tech is 8-0-0 all-time against Alabama Huntsville, including a 2-0-0 mark on the road. The series began when the Chargers join the WCHA in 2013-14.

• Seventeen of the 19 current Huskies who have seen playing time against Alabama Huntsville have notched at least one point. Thirteen Tech players have multiple points against the Chargers and seven skates have two goals or more in their careers vs. UAH.

• Tech is 9-2-1 in its last 12 games during the month of November, which includes a 7-2-0 mark last season.

• Senior goalie Jamie Phillips is 6-0-0 in his career against the Chargers with a .955 save percentage and 0.71 goals against average. Phillips has notched shutouts in three of his last four games against UAH and is currently riding a shutout streak of 204:56 vs. Huntsville.

Malcolm Gould leads all Huskies in career goals (5) and points (10) against Huntsville. Reid Sturos has a team-high six career assists in the series and is tied for second on the team in career points (7).

ROAD WARRIORS

Michigan Tech has been on an impressive run during Western Collegiate Hockey Association road games since the beginning of last season. In 17 games played, the Huskies have won 12 and are unbeaten in 14. MTU went a ridiculous 11-1-2 on the road in league games during the 2014-15 season.

KERO MAKES NHL DEBUT

Michigan Tech and the Copper Country proudly watched as former MTU hockey player Tanner Kero made his National Hockey League debut with the Chicago Blackhawks last week in Winnipeg. Kero, who was the WCHA Player of the Year and a Hobey Baker finalist last winter, was called up to the Blackhawks after a fast start in the AHL.

LINE JUGGLING

The Huskies have been forced to play numerous different line combinations and defensive pairings during the first three weeks of the season because of injuries. Tech has dressed 24 of its 25 skaters thus far and has received point production from 79% of those who have made at least one appearance.

LEADING THE PACK

Senior forward Alex Petan enters the weekend with the sixth-most points among all active NCAA Division I men's hockey players with 106. Petan, who has notched double-digit goals in each of his three seasons with the Huskies, is one of just eight current NCAA players who have hit the 100-point mark during their careers. Petan's 106 points is the highest career total among all WCHA players. The 5-foot-9 winger from Delta, B.C., is currently tied for 55th on the all-time Michigan Tech points list.
