HOUGHTON, Mich. - Justin Fontaine scored twice and added an
assist to lead No. 5 Minnesota Duluth to a 5-0 win over the
Michigan Tech hockey team in WCHA action Friday (Jan. 21). Kenny
Reiter made 14 saves for UMD in his fifth career shutout.
The Huskies held the Bulldogs scoreless in the first period but
J.T. Brown scored the first goal for Duluth at 4:07 of the
second.
The Bulldogs added a second goal less than one minute later off the
stick of Fontaine. He was assisted on the goal by Travis Oleksuk
and Brown at 5:05.
The same three would account for Duluth's third goal, with Fontaine
adding his second goal of the game at 16:47.
Jack Connolly scored the final two goals for UMD at 5:45 and 12:45
of the third period.
The Bulldogs finished one-for-five on the power play and held the
Huskies scoreless on their three chances.
