Skoog Files Back-to-Back Double-Doubles
WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Michigan Tech (2-2) concluded its four-game
tour of Florida at the Rollins College Invitational with a pair of
3-1 wins over Barry University (4-3) and Colorado Christian (0-8)
today. The Huskies finished the two-day tournament with a 2-2
record.
"I thought we responded well to the adversity we faced yesterday,"
said head coach Krista Mikesch. "We spent some time breaking down
the film, and we made the adjustments necessary to win today. We
really went back to our strengths, especially when you look at our
blocking total of 20 for the day. All in all, I think we did what
we had to do, and hopefully that will carry over to our next three
matches against NCC schools."
Michigan Tech opened its match against Barry with a 30-27 win, but
the Buccaneers rebounded with a 30-21 triumph in the second frame.
From there, however, the Huskies registered a 32-30 advantage in
the third game, and a 30-15 margin of victory in the final
stanza.
For the first time of the 2007 season, three Michigan Tech players
compiled double-doubles to lead an all-around great team effort.
Senior Kali Jeter (Middleton, Wis.) amassed 12 kills, 14 digs, two
block solos and two block assists in posting her first
double-double of the year. Junior Veronica Armstrong (Battle Creek,

percentage, while also picking up a team-high six block assists and
two service aces. Sister Christa Jung (Andover, Minn./Coon Rapids)
tacked on five block assists and three kills and sophomore Kelly
Jorgensen (Eden Prairie, Minn.) poured in four block assists and
one block solo. Rookie Kathleen Storm (Hancock, Mich.) had a
breakout performance, as she listed eight kills, five block assists
and four digs to her credit.
Sophomore Alison Greene (Andover, Minn./Totino Grace) doled out a
team-best 28 assists, along with six digs. Junior Kelsey Skoog
(Long Lake, Minn./Orono) closed the books on an outstanding
tournament after tallying her second double-double of the day off
totals of 12 digs and 10 assists. Adding to the Huskies' plentiful

percentage. She also added two block assists, one service ace and
one dig. Sophomore Kelly Jorgensen recorded 13 kills off a
blistering .579 attack percentage, in addition to two block solos,
two block assists and one dig. Junior Christa Jung provided 10
kills and three block assists, while junior Veronica Armstrong
tallied eight kills and eight digs. Senior Kali Jeter added eight
kills, 10 digs, two block assists and one block solo.
The Huskies' setting tandem of Alison Greene and Kelsey Skoog
finished with 25 and 24 assists, respectively. Greene also blasted
a career-high eight service aces, which was just one shy of a
Michigan Tech record. Skoog notched her first double-double since
switching to the setter spot, as also turned in 10 digs. Kaitlin
