IEUTER NAMED ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH

Klein Also Added To Mentor Defensive Line

HOUGHTON, Mich. -- Erik Ieuter (pronounced YITE-ur), a former graduate assistant at Grand Valley state, has joined Michigan Tech's football coaching staff effective immediately.

Ieuter played wide receiver at Albion for four seasons from 1999-2002, helping the Britons to conference championships in 1999 and 2001. The Midland, Michigan, native earned his bachelor's degree in economics/management and English from Albion in 2003.

Ieuter spent the following year as a graduate assistant at Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado. While there, he primarily worked with the safeties, helping ASC top the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in total defense and passing defense. He earned a master's degree in health and physical education from Adams State in 2004.

For the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Ieuter worked at Grand Valley State, assisting with both the wide receivers and offensive line. The Lakers were the 2005 national champions with one of the top offenses in the country.

Ieuter, 25, is single and currently resides in Houghton, Mich.

"We're very pleased to get a successful young coach like Erik," said first-year head coach Tom Kearly. "He'll be a good fit for our program."

Kearly also announced the addition of long-time Houghton High School football coach Ken Klein to the Tech staff. Klein will work with the Huskies defensive line.

Spring practice for the football team will begin April 3, with the annual spring intrasquad game scheduled for Sherman Field April 22 at 1 p.m.
