COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Aaron Slattengren scored two goals
and goaltender Drew O\'Connell made 19 saves to lead third-ranked
Colorado College (10-2-1, 5-1-1 WCHA) to a 5-0 win over the
Michigan Tech (2-10-1, 1-5-1 WCHA) hockey team in front of 6,011
Friday night at World Arena.
CC scored the only goal of the opening period at the 15:44 mark, as
Slattengren tallied a power-play marker off assists from Brett
Sterling and Marty Sertich.
The Tigers opened up a 3-0 lead after two periods of play off
even-strength goals from Slattengren and Sertich at 13:17 and
18:01.
John Brunkhorst and Sterling each chipped in a tally in the third
stanza, capping the win for the Tigers.
Freshman Michael-Lee Teslak turned aside 32 of 37 shots in net for
MTU, while O\'Connell recorded the first shutout of his career at
CC.
The home team scored once on three power-play chances and the
Huskies went 0-for-2 with a man advantage.
Michigan Tech will look to salvage a series-split against the
Tigers tomorrow night at World Arena. The puck will drop at 7:07
p.m. local time.
