James F. Lahr

A three-sport student-athlete at Michigan Tech in the early
1950's James Lahr was most renowned for his presence on the
football field.
A three-year letterwinner on the gridiron (1949-51) at running
back, Lahr served as captain his senior year and was voted the
team's Most Valuable Player. During the course of the 1951 season,
Lahr racked up 85 scoring points, the most by any player in the
state of Michigan.
In track, where he was also a three-year letterwinner, Lahr
established MTU reconds in both the 100 and 220-yard dashes his
final year in a Huskies uniform.
He was also a three-year letterwinner in basketball.
Since his departure from MTU in 1952 Lahr has continued his
support of the athletic programs through financial donations.
