HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech men's cross country team was picked third in the GLIAC Preseason Poll, and the women's squad was the fifth selection. The Huskies begin the season on Sept. 18 at the Oshkosh Titan Classic.
In the men's poll, Grand Valley State totaled 81 points and nine first-place votes. Saginaw Valley State (72) was also ahead of the Huskies with one first-place nod. The Huskies had 62 points and edged Wayne State (61). Ferris State (43), Parkside (42), Davenport (38), Purdue Northwest (25), Lake Superior State (17), and Roosevelt (9) rounded out the poll.
GVSU was the top pick in the women's poll with 100 points and 10 first-place votes. Northern Michigan (85), WSU (79), and SVSU (79) were above the Black and Gold. The Huskies received one first-place vote and accumulated 65 points. FSU (53), Parkside (49), PNW (33), LSSU (32), DU (19), and Roosevelt (11) finished out the poll.
Tech also competes at the Bradley Pink Classic hosted by Bradley University on Oct. 16 and hosts a home meet at the Tech Trails on Oct. 30, the Husky Invitational. The postseason begins on Nov. 6, traveling to Hammond, Indiana, for the GLIAC Championships. For the second consecutive year, the Midwest Regional Championships will be hosted by Parkside at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course. The NCAA Championships will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, on Dec. 4, as part of the festival year celebration.
