HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech is traveling across the UP to race at the NCAA Central Regional Championships in Ishpeming. The Huskies will race a 7.5K classic on Saturday and 20K skate on Sunday at Al Quaal.
"We need to get a little rest and recovery and trust the training that we've done over the last 11 and a half months," Tech coach
Tom Monahan Smith said. "We need to rely on the processes we've had in place all season.
"We haven't gotten to race at Al Quaal for a few seasons. It's similar to our Tech Trails with awesome UP natural snow with challenging courses and a variety of terrain. We'll treat it as another race and another race course and go in on Friday and do a good pre-race and really preview the course and strategize how we'll tackle it."
Northern Michigan is the host the 2025 NCAA Central Regional Championships in partnership with the City of Ishpeming Parks and Recreation at the FIS Homologated Ski Trails at Al Quaal Recreation Area. This will be the final NCAA Qualifier for the 2024-2025 Season.
Saturday's individual start classic begins with the men's race at 10 a.m. followed by the women's race at noon.
