AUSTIN – Michigan Tech senior Nordic skier Skylar Patten has been named to the CSC Academic All-America At-Large Third Team, announced Wednesday. This marks Patten's first Academic All-America feat and the first male student-athlete named to the CSC All-America team in the Tom Monahan Smith coaching era.

Patten, a native of Park City, Utah, swept the men's individual titles at the NCAA Midwest Regional Skiing Championships to punch his ticket to the NCAA Skiing Championships, where he led the Huskies with a 14th-place finish (7.5k Freestyle) and 16th-place finish (20km Classic Mass Start). His victories at Regionals helped the Black & Gold earn its third-straight combined team title. Academically, Patten maintained a 3.83 GPA while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering.
