    Huskies Top Competition for Second Place in Classic Ski Race The Michigan Tech Huskies wrapped up the Central Region Skiing Championships with two classic races. The Huskies had a great day in the field, securing second place again. Three members of the women’s team cracked the top 10 in the college division – Anna Kubek led the Huskies in 7th place, with a time of 16:58.1. Gaspard Cuenot took 2nd place in the college standings and pulled 10th place overall.

    Huskies Capture Second Place in Freestyle Race at NCAA Central Region Championships The Michigan Tech Nordic Skiing Teams, both men and women, secured 2nd place in today’s mass freestyle races at the NCAA Central Region Championship in Ishpeming, Mich. Leading the 20K freestyle in points for the men’s team was Tom Bye, Gaspard Cuenot, and Daniel Wood, earning 41 points. In the 15K, the women locked in 39 points. The top contributors were Sonja Hedblom, Anna Kubek, and Carolyn Lucca.

    Kero Called Back up to Chicago Blackhawks Thursday Former Michigan Tech hockey player Tanner Kero was called back up to the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday (Feb. 16). Kero was assigned to the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday (Feb. 12) but did not appear in any AHL games during the stint.

    Pohlod Receives GLIAC Commissioner’s Award Michigan Tech volleyball player Rachel Pohlod was one of the six female recipients of the 2016 Fall GLIAC Commissioner’s Award the league announced on Friday (Feb. 17). Six male and six female student-athletes that excel academically and on the fields of play are presented after the fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons with the award.

    Houghton Ranked a Top 10 Hockey City in US for Third Straight Year For the third year in a row, Houghton has been named a top 10 hockey city in America. The hometown of the Michigan Tech Huskies checked in at No. 6 this year. SmartAsset, a personal finance technology company headquartered in New York, released its third annual ranking on Wednesday (Feb. 15).

    Huskies Win Winter Carnival for Fifth Straight Season Michigan Tech won the MacInnes Cup as winners of the annual Winter Carnival series for the fifth year in a row, defeating Ferris State 5-2 Saturday (Feb. 11) at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena. Reid Sturos scored two goals Saturday and was named Winter Carnival MVP.
