The Michigan Tech hockey team is ranked No. 8 in the USCHO.com poll and No. 9 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll this week. Tech is 18-7-1 overall and 13-4-1 in the WCHA, good for second place in the league standings.

Michigan Tech men’s basketball student-athlete Ben Stelzer (Manitowoc, Wis.) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week after the second week of conference divisional matchups.

Flanders, Hjulsten Win Freestyle Races
Michigan Tech had the top collegiate finisher in both the women’s and men’s freestyle races at the Twin Cities Championships today. Alice Flanders won the women’s five-kilometer race while Haakon Hjulsten claimed the men’s 10K title.

No. 19 Michigan Tech held off a scrappy Saginaw Valley State team 69-61 today in GLIAC women’s basketball at O’Neill Arena. The Huskies withstood the Cardinals’ hot shooting at 56 percent and a second half run to improve to 15-1 overall and 11-1 in league play.

Michigan Tech’s men’s Nordic skiing team finished second and the women were third at today’s sprint races at the Twin Cities Championships. Four Huskies (three men and one woman) placed in the top 10 among collegiate racers.

No. 19 Michigan Tech overcame a five-point halftime deficit to earn a 64-57 victory at Hillsdale tonight in GLIAC women’s basketball. Kelli Guy paced the Huskies with 18 points, and Morgan Anderson made the clutch plays down the stretch to keep the Black and Gold in control.
