offers practical experience to students interested in health care
fields. Athletic Trainers are responsible for the prevention,
evaluation, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
Student Interns work with Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Team
Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Physical Therapists to
provide general health care to all varsity athletic teams at
Michigan Technological University.
Students in the Athletic Training Student Internship Program have the opportunity to observe and be involved with all aspects of the sports medicine coverage provided by Portage Health Sports Medicine.
Student Interns work on a daily basis under the supervision of a staff ATC. Student interns may assist with taping, pre and post-practice treatments, therapeutic exercise programs, practice and event coverage, first aid and all other team needs.
